About The Bridging the Gap Podcast
Bridging the Gap is a seven-part investigative podcast series examining how Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) scholarships and programs shape the student experience across colleges and universities in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region. Through narrative storytelling, expert interviews, and in-depth research, the series explores the promise of DEI, the pressures reshaping it, and the lives defined by it.
From first-generation graduates navigating access barriers to administrators working behind the scenes, international students facing shifting immigration policies, and analysts unpacking national political trends, Bridging the Gap offers a nuanced, human-centered look at one of the most contested issues in higher education today.
Created as a capstone project for The George Washington University, the series aims to deepen public understanding of how equity-based programs function — and what happens when they're supported, challenged, or dismantled.
